Former Colorado State University (CSU) undergraduate students, who have not been an admitted, degree-seeking student for at least five years, may apply for an academic Fresh Start. This policy allows students to establish a new academic record.

Applicants wishing to use Fresh Start must contact the Center for Advising and Student Achievement one semester prior to the academic term in which students wish to enroll at CSU. The Admissions Office can also assist with the application process that needs to be completed to return to CSU using Fresh Start.
If students are granted a Fresh Start:
-
They will have a demarcation on their permanent academic record to delineate their previous record from the new academic record achieved under the Fresh Start policy.
-
Courses taken prior to the Fresh Start, in which a grade of at least a C- or S was awarded, may be applied toward graduation requirements.
-
Only grades earned after the Fresh Start demarcation will be computed in the new GPA.
Students receiving Fresh Start must successfully complete at least 30-upper division credits of coursework in residence at CSU after the Fresh Start is granted in order to graduate.
Once approved, Fresh Start will display on a student’s RAMweb account after the census date for the first term for which they have returned. For Fall and Spring terms, this date is after the 12th business day of the semester. For the Summer term, it is the third or fourth week of June, depending on the year.
