FAMweb Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is FAMweb?

FAMweb is a new system developed by CSU that enables you to designate who you want to have secure online access to view selected educational records from your file. FAMweb access to families and trusted individuals is granted by you, the CSU student.

How do I grant access to my records through FAMweb?

You can decide to whom (if anyone) you want to grant access to view your records. After logging into RAMweb, click on the 'Manage Access to My Records (FAMweb)' link in the Records section. From there, you may add people to your FAMweb access list and select which records they may access. Once you've saved your authorizations, you and the person(s) to whom you've granted access will receive an email about the authorizations. Whomever you granted access to will be initially required to set up their FAMweb account, and once that's done, they'll be able to view the records you selected. The university cannot change FAMweb online access to an individual on behalf of a student. As a CSU student, you have the control — and the right and responsibility — to choose to provide, update, or withdraw FAMweb online access.

Who has access to FAMweb?

Only those individuals you authorize will have access to view your records in FAMweb. You can view and manage access anytime by logging into RAMweb and clicking on the 'Manage Access to My Records (FAMweb)' link in the Records section.

What records can be viewed online in FAMweb?

Four different student records can be viewed in FAMweb:

  • eBilling information
  • Grades for the last completed term
  • Unofficial transcript
  • Your class schedule for the semester in session

Who has access to my records?

Only those individuals you authorize will have access to view your records. FAMweb is a new system that provides an online view of your eBilling information, grades for the last completed term, unofficial transcript, and your weekly class schedule. The CSU Privacy Policy and rules of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) still apply regardless of the method of disclosure. For those of you new to FERPA, we encourage you to use the following web references as guides.

Why is there already someone on my FAMweb access list when I haven't added anyone?

If you've previously added someone's email to your eBilling list, that email will appear in your FAMweb access list with only the eBilling component activated. If you want this person to have additional FAMweb access you will need to log in to RAMweb and grant the additional access.

Where is the 'Change My eBilling Information' link?

You can now update your eBilling information by using the 'Manage Access to My Records (FAMweb)' link in the Records section of the RAMweb home page. Persons to whom you've granted access will now update their own email addresses by logging into their FAMweb account. The eBilling statements will still be sent to your student email address.

Why is the last name 'Unknown' and the first name blank?

When updating or adding information for eBilling, only an email was required; name information was not collected. Since name information does not exist in our records, the default value for last name is 'Unknown' and the first name is left blank. When a current eBilling customer logs into FAMweb for the first time, they will be required to update their first and last name.

Why is the relationship listed as 'Other Person'?

When updating or adding information for eBilling, only an email was required; relationship information was not collected. Since relationship information does not exist in our records, the default value for the relationship is 'Other Person'. Students will be able to update this field at some point in the future.

Why is someone still on my FAMweb access list when I've disabled all of their permissions?

If you remove all access for a particular person, that record will be grayed out, listed as inactive, and all permissions will be listed as 'No'. That person will not have any access to your records, but it is necessary to keep the record associated with your account for historical review.

Does the access to my records ever expire?

Yes. When you graduate, transfer from, or leave CSU, your RAMweb and eID accounts will expire. At that time, FAMweb access will no longer be available online to anyone who was previously granted permission. You may still grant access to your records by other means. Please contact the Registrar's Office for more information.

Is this the only way for me to give access to my records to family members and/or other trusted individuals?

No. You may also complete a permission form in the Registrar's Office to grant access to your records.
