Pass/Fail Grading
Selection of pass/fail grading for a student option pass/fail graded course cannot be accomplished through the registration system. Students must register for the course first, then complete the Student Option Pass/Fail and Audit Grading Form, obtain the required approval signature, and submit it to the Registrar's Office no later than the end of the course add/drop period.
The following regulations apply to pass/fail student option courses for the
undergraduate student:
- First semester freshmen are not eligible for this option.
- First semester transfer students are not eligible for this option.
- Students with less than a 2.0 cumulative grade point average are not
eligible for this option.
- Students may use this option for only one course per semester.
- This option should not be used in a course to fulfill a general or specific
requirements within a student's major.
- The above regulations do not apply to HES IOOA-P, HES IOIA-J, HES
102A-G, HES 104, HES 106, and HES 123.
- Additional policies for this grading option are indicated on the form.
Audit Grading
When a student audits a course they must be registered for the course. The student will not earn a traditional grade or credits for an audited course. A successfully completed audited course will appear on the student’s academic records with a grade of “AU”.
Auditing a course requires prior approval of the instructor of the course. To elect the audit grading option students must register for the course first, then complete the Student Option Pass/Fail and Audit Grading Form, obtain the required approval signature, and submit it to the Registrar's Office no later than the end of the course add/drop period. All applicable tuition and fees are assessed for audited credits. Audits do not count for full-time status, for loan deferments, financial aid, etc. Courses with a grade of Audit are not eligible to receive the College Opportunity Fund (COF) stipend.
