Appeal a Required Course

To waive or substitute a core or degree requirement course, or a University graduation requirement.

Students have the option to appeal to have an All University Core Curriculum (AUCC) course, degree requirement course, or University graduation requirement (total credits or upper division credits, AUCC GPA, ect.) waived or fulfilled with a substituted course. To do so the student must complete either the Requesting a Substitution for a Core Requirement Appeal Form or the University Graduation Requirement Appeal Form

To appeal the student will need to:

  • Obtain the appropriate form for the link above.
  • Document on the form the request, and circumstances/reasoning for the appeal.
  • Sign the form.
  • Have their advisor sign the form and note weather they do or do not support the request.
  • Have the head of their major department sign the form and note weather they do or do not support the request.
  • Print off their DARS audit from RAMweb.
  • Include a course description or syllabus for the course in question, if the course was taken at another institution (credit received in transfer).
  • Submit the appeal to the Registrar’s Office in person at Centennial Hall, by email at registrarsoffice@colostate.edu, or by fax at (970)491-2283. If appeals are submitted in person the student will be provide with an envelope to self address, as the appeal decision will be mailed back to the student. If the appeal is submitted by email or fax an envelope will be filled out for the student.

The decision making process can take up to five weeks, and appeal decisions will be mailed to the student.
