Exceptions/Substitutions/Waivers of Degree Requirements

Authorized departmental staff members have the authority to make exceptions to a student’s program requirements.

To access Exception Forms:

• Log on to ARIESweb
• Click on the “ARIES A-Z link” under the ARIES Information Links section
• Click on the “E” link in the A-Z list
• Click on the “Exceptions (DARS)” link in the Topic Title box
• Click on the “Click Here” button next to Exception Form – One Student if you would like to submit and exception for only one student, or on the “Click Here” button next to Exception Form –List if you wish to submit the same exception for multiple students.
• The forms can be filled out electronically on the PDF, or printed and filled out by hand.
• Make sure to list every requirement that the exception should be processed for, such as; if it should be used in a program GPA or minimum grade requirement.
• Submit the Exception Form(s) to the Registrar’s Office in person at Centennial Hall, by email to degreeoffice@colostate.edu, or by fax to (970)491-2283.

Exception forms are generally processed within one to two business days.

Each department is authorized to make exceptions for requirements in their program, minor, or interdisciplinary programs, but may not make exceptions for any other program, minor, or interdisciplinary program.

As students can view their degree audit at anytime through RAMweb it is important that Exceptions be submitted to the Registrar’s Office in a timely manner.

This excludes All University Core Curriculum (AUCC) courses and University graduation requirements.
