Apostille Request

An apostille may be required for a diploma and/or transcript being sent to an entity in another country. That entity may refer to the required diploma and/or transcript to be “certified,” “notarized” or “authenticated.” An apostille verifies that the Colorado State University official whose signature appears on a document is in good standing and has signed properly in accordance with the records of the Colorado Secretary of State.

To obtain an apostille, contact the Registrar’s Office at (970) 491-7159, registrarsoffice@colostate.edu, or in person in Centennial Hall. You'll be instructed to purchase a diploma and/or transcript and furnish the necessary information needed to process the apostille. You'll then need to submit the processing fee of $25 (payable by Visa, MasterCard, check payable to Colorado State University or cash) for preparation of the documents. Also furnish a check or money order (payable to the Colorado Secretary of State) for $10 for each document that will need an apostille.

If mailed within the United States, allow a three-week turnaround after the initial request. An apostille sent to an international address is mailed first class by registered mail. For quicker delivery (3-5 business days), we can send it by UPS International for an additional fee of $25.

A student may choose to hand carry the documentation prepared by the Registrar’s Office to the Colorado Secretary of State’s office in Denver. The Secretary of State considers this a “walk-in apostille processing service,” for which they charge an additional fee of $25. Check with the Registrar’s office for further information regarding this option.
